As a Martial Artist tragic of over 30 years, I have been involved in many different systems. I am also an ex Special Operations member and am myself a Police Unarmed Combat Instructor. As one would expect, I have not only been involved in many different “Self Defence/ Defensive” tactics courses/ seminars and programs, but have been exposed to my fair share of violent confrontations. Training with Peter Sciarra and his Integrated Combat Systems has been absolutely fantastic. When Pete engages his teaching one can tell that this is a man with credibility and skill. He not only looks the part, he is the part. His teaching style is exceptionally progressive and the techniques are not only easy to learn, but easy to adapt. Above all, they work. In a time when everyone is jumping on the reality based bandwagon, it’s refreshing to see a system that is absolutely geared towards helping protect its participants, with a realistic approach to tactics and techniques David,ex special operations tactical team member(Victorian Police) Martial Arts Black Belt,Brazillan Ju-Jitsu Purple Belt. "The system of combat that Peter teaches works. I have had to use some of the techniques in the real world and they are very effective. This system is the most realistic effective system that I have come across in 20 years of martial arts experience." G. Stefan, Police officer and Karate Black Belt " I'm very happy to be training with ICS. Peter's syllabus is well structured, extremely practical has an excellent focus on applying appropriate actions to real life scenarios. As an instructor he is personable and very approachable, consistently demonstrating an enthusiastic, hands-on attitude which is reflective of his commitment to his students. I've trained with several other organisations and can honestly say that I'm more motivated and have made better progress with Peter than I have with those in the past." Justin Haining, Manager product development,Tatts pokies. "Having tried numerous clubs I can confidently say Peter Sciarra training most adequately addresses the market for Practical self defense. Not only in terms of the style and techniques taught but more importantly the way they are trained. A problem I faced, and one I believe is a common one, is that most traditional styles are just not trained in a realistic manner (i.e. the old standing in a line blocking your training partners pre prescribed punch aimed at the air next to your head) this in many ways is worse than doing nothing at all because at least your not walking around with a false sense of security. Therefore the natural conclusion is that the only way to get practical training experience that can be utilized in the imperfect reality of a real fight is to go to a club specializing in some style of the more brutal competition fighting (MMA, BJJ etc) and clock up sparring time. This is great if you have an interest in competition fighting. But it does have certain draw backs from a purely self defense point of view. In addition to the very real risk of injury, it also rules out learning a vast array of higher leverage “dirty” techniques that are not permitted in competition. And it also isn’t going to explicitly address weapon threats and multiple attacker scenarios. Pete’s training strongly centered on drilling techniques that escalate not only in scope but also intensity (in some cases almost to the point where you are sparring) is able to offer students a very realistic yet safe avenue for building skills and more importantly confidence. I can say from experience that it isn’t long before you find your self training techniques at a very realistic level of pressure. Pete’s emphasis on realism is also manifested in the novel measures that are used to enable techniques to be practiced exactly as they would be applied in the street (for example safety goggles so eye pokes can actually be targeted at the eyes). I would certainly recommend the training especiallyto the more cynical". Adam Davies - IT manager. "Peter Sciarra is an internationally recognised martial arts instructor teaching internationally recognised concepts. Having trained under Peter's Integrated Combat System (ICS) for the past five years, the benefits I have received are numerous and include; increased strength, fitness, discipline and confidence. More importantly however, the fighting style Peter teaches is real, real in the sense that it works. ICS is not concerned with 'flashy' moves that are ultimately ineffective. Rather, by combing the best techniques from almost every martial arts discipline, ICS is efficient and can be employed in any situation" Mike Von Tauchek - Lawyer. After training in martial arts for a decade it is refreshing to find a trainer, who is open minded and knowledgeable within his field. Someone who isnt afraid to step outside the box and attend seminars and cross train in order to teach us students new or more effective techniques. This says a lot about Peter and his system as it is constantly evolving and I can honestly say I get excited everytime I walk through the doors and trek upstairs to train with Peter and his boys. The training enivronment is clean and well kept, not to mention the students are friendly, approachable and engaging, and no egos are present in this school. This would be an accurate reflection of how Peter Sciarra conducts himself amongst us students, and without a doubt I have never met a trainer quite like him. If you want to learn self defence that is not only effective, affordable and fun to learn then I suggest you take a visit to ICS and speak to Peter Sciarra about becoming a member. Trust me on this one! Simon Sultana,Personal Trainer
Before I started training in the ICS self defence system I had no martial arts experience. I have found the system Peter Sciarra teaches to be intuitive to learn and does not require unrealistic dexterity, flexibility or strength. I have learned useful techniques from day 1 in an environment that is easy going, but focused on proficiency in the skills relevant to each module that Peter teaches. Skills are taught, or reinforced, and related to practical street based scenarios in each lesson. John Hall - General Manager
Having worked in the security industry for over 20 years, and trained in many different Martial Art systems. I can honestly say that ICS training has provided me with the most realistic and easy to learn defensive tactics. Instructor Peter Sciarra is a man who certainly knows his trade.
